Daryl Hannah and Crazy Climate
Daryl thinks climate is 'crazy'!
This morning I watched Daryl Hannah tolerate Fox and Friends as she talked about her march on Washington a day earlier. She apparently spent some time with a group of people demanding that the Capital and other government buildings change to ‘green’ energy, rather than use the coal power plant that currently provides energy for that area. One of the couch people asked her about the problems with ‘clean coal’, and she explained that the problems were obvious– ‘just look at it’, she said. It is black, dirty…. she explained that ‘clean coal’ was an oxymoron. There was no confusing the issue with complicated concepts like sulfur emissions; why get her pretty head filled with all of those complicated equations, anyway? Best to stick with ‘it is so icky– look what it does to your clothes’ as the reason to spend another couple billion dollars on a new plant. Besides, after Obama is done devaluing and diluting the dollar, a billion bucks is really more like a million.
I hate to pick on Ms. Hannah since she was so cool in the Kill Bill movies, which are two of my all-time favorites. But this just has to be pointed out…. when it was pointed out that pickets related to ‘global warming’ always seem to occur on the coldest days, she said that the issue is no longer ‘global warming’… now it is all about ‘crazy climate’ or ea something like that (Wacky weather? I can’t remember exactly). I have explained the problem with this type of logic before, in the inner pages of ‘warmal globing’… if a person adopts this view– that we are changing the climate of the earth, and the result is that our weather is ‘crazy’– then everything serves as evidence of this new view of ‘global warming’… even if it has nothing at all to do with warming!
What is wrong with that, you ask? Back when the ‘global warming’ nuts were making straightforward claims and predictions, such as the idea that the earth’s climate is changing, and getting warmer, it was easy to show that th ey were wrong. All one had to do was point out that in fact the Earth’s temperature was NOT increasing… case closed. But lately, the Left has found a new way to deal with the naysayers who doubt their abilities to save mankind; the Left has learned that if they come up with things that are bizarre enough, there will be little rebuttle! Let me demonstrate: let’s say our ‘leftist dentist’ promises to pull your lower right wisdom tooth, and you pre-pay $1000 bucks for the service. After the procedure you notice that the tooth is still there, but the upper left tooth is gone instead. You say, ‘you pulled the wrong tooth, I want a refund’. According to the new way of discussing things, the leftist dentist says ‘tooth decay is relative and doesn’t affect only one tooth’. You then say ‘but I wanted the other tooth out’, and the dentist says ‘the tooth would decay whether or not it is in your mouth’. How can you argue with that?
A bad analogy, I know. But do you see the point? We know that the Earth has not warmed since 1998; for a few years the answer was that it was too short a period to measure, then it was a ‘statistical aberration’… but now it is looking more and more like ‘reversion to the mean’. But if the Earth is NOT warming, THEN WHAT?! Would Al have to give the prize back, flying by private jet to Europe to hand it over, using the fuel of a few thousand Geo Metros to make the trip? If Al had to give the prize back, what sort of speech would he give THIS time? How about ‘Ooops- nevermind’!
So instead, Daryl comes on fox– a place that must hard for her to bear– to ‘take one for the team’ and use the term ‘crazy climate’ or whatever it was, trying to seed the term in the minds of Republicans watching the morning news. ‘But I will look stupid’, she must have said! No– don’t worry Daryl. The American people are not that smart– not when the TV is turned on! They will drink it right up.
And so we have the new logic of the Left about global warming– that cold weather is from global warming, and that hot weather is from global warming. In fact, at some point I am positive I will hear an explanation about how unusual it is that we have had weather that has been completely average for so long!
I tell you, folks… as a former scientist, the ‘data’ is pretty silly. The good news was that it would all be disproved, and before some fool politician wastes the country’s resources chasing after this imaginary condition. But with this ‘crazy climate’ thing, nothing can be proved in any direction! The weather is just ‘crazy’– and so it cannot be predicted! How does one go about proving THAT theory wrong?!
Don’t be tricked by smooth-talking mermaids. Trust yoursefl, and trust your own judgment. Does it make sense that the NY Times talked about the warm spring a year ago as evidence of global warming… and now considers a cold spring in the same part of the country to be evidence of… global warming? Of Course Not!
Sorry Darryl– got to cut you loose after this one. At least you still have all those oceans to run back to someday.
